    ​Client Overview

    The client is a leading company in the design and production of custom containers for storage and transport of automotive components, with over 20 years of experience in the sector. All products are 100% made in Italy, certified according to EU regulations, and designed to ensure high quality, reliability, and efficiency. Its focus on flexibility and continuous improvement allows the client to provide efficient logistics solutions.

    ​Initial Situation

    The client performs both series and custom welding for its containers, with tasks often repetitive and precise. Serving prestigious international automotive brands such as Volkswagen, BMW, Chrysler, and Volvo, the company must maintain exceptional welding quality, leaving no room for errors. The challenge was to implement a solution that could ensure consistent, high-quality welds while handling both standard and custom components efficiently.

    ​Solution Implemented

    To meet the client’s needs, RI proposed the V2 Collaborative Welding Station. For components that fit on a compact welding table, a 1400mm 6-axis robot with a 500A MIG/MAG water-cooled welding power supply was installed, equipped with a dedicated fixture table allowing the client to secure parts directly for precise welding.

    For larger components exceeding 2.5 meters, a trolley-mounted version with the same robot specifications was implemented. This setup allows the robot to be easily repositioned across the production area, enabling alternating welding on left and right positions while maintaining consistent, high-quality welds.

    Both solutions were delivered turnkey, featuring easy programming and access to multiple welding types via tablet control.

    ​Results

      The implementation of the collaborative welding stations (V2 & trolley) brought significant improvements in production quality and efficiency. The client now achieves consistent, precise welds on both standard and oversized components, with each station supporting its specific workflow needs. Tablet-based programming and access to multiple welding types simplified operations, reduced setup time, and minimized errors. Overall, the client is highly satisfied, noting that the combination of the V2 table-mounted and trolley-mounted stations provides a reliable, versatile, and efficient solution for their container manufacturing process.
