Collaborative Trolley Welding Station – Container Production

Client Overview

The company specializes in custom welding services across various industries, with a strong focus on the production of containers for international clients. Their activity involves manufacturing welded structures tailored to specific customer requirements, emphasizing durability, precision, and compliance with external market standards.

Initial Situation

The client was required to manufacture approximately 10 containers per week, but the existing workforce was not sufficient to maintain a fast and consistent production rhythm. The welding process involved long horizontal and vertical welds, which made it difficult to achieve uniform weld geometry throughout the containers. Variations in weld shape and quality occurred, impacting both productivity and consistency, especially under tight delivery schedules.

Solution Implemented

The client was provided with a Robot Industries welding robot with a reach of 1400 mm, equipped with a 500-amp water-cooled welding power source, all integrated on a mobile trolley. This setup allowed the robot to be manually repositioned along the length of the containers.

Results

By using the trolley robotic welding system, the client was able to efficiently weld containers exceeding 3 meters in length by repositioning the robot along the container using the trolley. This ensured complete coverage of long horizontal and vertical welds with consistent welding parameters throughout the entire process.

The implementation allowed the client to stabilize the production flow and maintain the targeted output of 10 containers per week. Weld quality became uniform in terms of shape and penetration, meeting the expectations of external customers. In addition, production times were reduced, operator dependency decreased, and the overall reliability of the welding process improved, enabling the client to deliver high-quality containers within shorter lead times.
